I can't believe I almost forgot ...

Three Grams (and the sequel Perdix's Lament) by frostian  - this is real science fiction, not porny at all, even though it sounds almost cracky in summary.  Young Jared rescues discarded hybrid doll!Jensen, persuading his legendary scientist father to let Jensen become part of their family and so much more.  There's a full world built here, with explanations and descriptions equal to those in published novels.  When I say real science fiction, I mean the old school kind that moves the mind as well as the heart; stories with a point of view, not just adventures and aliens.  Not that this fic is lacking in those - warnings for Chad, space mercenary JDM, and curmudgeonly Jim Beaver :D  Also character death (sort of ) and a the kind of wistful sadness that often permeates stories like this (think AI or Blade Runner )  Also, too_rational  (who should get some kind of award for services to fandom - seriously, check out her master PDF post, she has the best fic!) has made PDFs of both!
